Confidentiality Notice
Keel & Compass – Clinical Hypnotherapy. Last updated: 1 November 2026
Confidentiality is the foundation of therapy. This notice explains what it means at Keel & Compass and the limited situations where it cannot be maintained. Please read it alongside the Privacy Notice and the Client Intake & Consent Form.
1. My commitment to you
Everything you tell me, and everything recorded about your therapy, is private. I will not share it with anyone without your agreement, except in the limited circumstances below. This includes the fact that you are, or have been, a client.
2. What is covered
- What you say in consultations and sessions.
- Your intake form, health screening and consent forms.
- My clinical notes and any correspondence between us.
- Your contact, booking and payment details.
3. When confidentiality may have to be broken
I will always try to speak with you first where it is safe and practical. I may need to share information, limited to what is necessary, when:
- there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else;
- a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk of abuse or neglect;
- the law requires it, for example a court order, or in connection with terrorism or serious crime;
- there is a medical emergency and I need to contact emergency services or your emergency contact;
- my professional or regulatory duties require disclosure.
4. Sharing with your consent
I may write to your GP or other health professionals if I think it would help your care, but only with your written consent. You can decline, or withdraw consent later.
5. Clinical supervision
I discuss my work with a professional supervisor to keep my practice safe and high quality. Clients are never identified, and only the minimum necessary detail is shared.
6. Online sessions
- Sessions take place on a secure video platform and are not recorded by me.
- Please do not record sessions yourself.
- Choose a private room where you cannot be overheard, and use headphones if others are at home.
- At the start of each session I will confirm your location and an emergency contact, so I can get help if needed.
7. Email, text and phone
Please use email or text for appointment arrangements only, and do not send detailed health or personal information this way. If you leave a voicemail, leave only your name and number. I will keep contact brief and discreet.
8. Records and your rights
Records are stored securely and kept for the period in the Privacy Notice. You have the right to see your records and ask for corrections. Contact me using the details below.
9. If you are worried
If you are concerned about confidentiality at any point, please raise it with me. If you believe confidentiality has been breached, tell me and I will investigate promptly. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
