Frequently asked questions
What does hypnosis feel like?
Most people describe deep relaxation, like being absorbed in a daydream or a good book.
Will I be conscious during hypnosis?
Yes. You stay awake and aware throughout and can hear everything I say.
Can everyone be hypnotised?
Most people can experience hypnosis if they want to. Willingness and trust help.
Will I lose control?
No. You remain in control and cannot be made to do anything against your will.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Some people notice change within a few sessions; we will agree a plan together at your consultation.
How long is a session?
Around 45 to 55 minutes.
Can hypnotherapy help with anxiety?
It may help many people reduce anxiety and respond to it differently. Results vary.
Can hypnotherapy help with weight management?
It may support habit and mindset change alongside sensible eating and activity.
Is online hypnotherapy effective?
Many people find online sessions work well, as hypnosis relies on guided focus rather than being in the same room. We will check suitability at your consultation.
What happens if I don't want to continue?
You can stop at any time. There is no pressure.
Is hypnotherapy suitable for everyone?
No. Screening is part of the process. It may not be suitable for some conditions, such as epilepsy or psychosis, so I ask about this before we begin.
Do I need to speak to my GP first?
Not usually, but if you have a medical condition, or are unsure, check with your GP.
